The Uprising team have made the decision to adapt the way the festival is presented to allow it to grow in the future.
The decision has been taken to move Uprising away from other large-scale rock events which can cause significant issues in booking artists appropriate to the venue and event. This gives Uprising the opportunity to book the bands YOU really want to see, which always has been and always will be the organisers main goal.
The event scheduled for May will now be focusing on the Metal 2 The Masses final and will also pride itself in showcasing some of the best Self-Signed and unsigned bands from around the country, some of which have graced most of the major UK festivals.
Organiser Simon Yarwood is feeling positive about these new changes and has commented:
“The Metal 2 The Masses Leicester Final is a key event in our calendar and will continue as planned at DeMontfort Hall on Saturday 26th May, with the overall winner progressing to play Bloodstock Festival 2018. The Iconic DeMontfort Hall has a long history of hosting metal and rock events, and will always remain the centre of Uprising, with other venues in Leicester making up fringe style events during the weekend.”
Looking further ahead, the organisers have already been in discussion with De Montfort Hall about additional gig dates through the remainder of the year and have also held outline talks about the potential expansion to an annual outdoor event once the infrastructure works are completed at the hall this summer.
Organiser Matt Kirk explains:
“Uprising is already a staple in the UK’s rock and metal scene, and we now want to build on those solid foundations and have the scope to not only give you the headliners you want, but also expand the capacity size of the festival/ We look forward to bigger and better Uprising events in the future.”
The acts currently playing across the weekend are:
In Search Of Sun
Raised By Owls
Footprints In The Custard
More acts to be announced at a later date.
